Specialty
Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, corrects excess skin and “fat bags” in the eyelids that can give the eyes a tired, aged, or sad appearance. It can also help improve vision in older patients with significant upper eyelid excess.
The eyelid skin is the thinnest on the face and one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Over time, it loses elasticity and begins to sag, affecting the firmness associated with a youthful appearance.
Over time, this skin can fold over the upper eyelid and fat may accumulate, creating under-eye “bags” that give a tired or fatigued appearance, often not reflecting how the person actually feels.
Blepharoplasty is tailored individually for each patient,
It is performed under local anesthesia (or with sedation)
It typically lasts around 45 minutes and is usually an outpatient procedure.
It can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.
