Specialty
Excimer Laser Refractive Surgery
Excimer laser surgery is used to correct myopia and astigmatism, and can also be applied in cases of hyperopia.
Cause
These vision disorders are caused by an imbalance between the curvature of the cornea and the length of the eye.
Treatment
Laser surgery reshapes the cornea by precisely removing and remodeling tissue, allowing light rays to focus correctly on the retina and resulting in clearer vision.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, takes approximately 10–15 minutes, and both eyes can be treated in a single session.
Eligibility criteria
Be over 20–24 years old, as vision can still change before this age.
Have normal eye exam results and fall within safe parameters for the procedure.
Not be pregnant or breastfeeding, as these conditions can affect eye measurements.
Your prescription must be stable.
There must be no active eye conditions at the time of surgery.
You should not be taking certain medications or have specific medical conditions, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Personalized evaluation and technique

Preoperative evaluation
Before surgery, it is essential to carefully assess the corneal surface and thickness, along with a comprehensive eye examination.

Surgical technique
Based on these evaluations, the most appropriate surgical technique will be selected for each patient (LASIK, LASEK, or PRK), provided it is safe and recommended.

Better vision quality
For most patients, vision stabilizes within a few days after surgery, although in some cases it may take a bit longer.
