What’s included in a routine eye exam?
Visual acuity test:
Checks how clearly you see at different distances
Refraction test
Determines your need for glasses or contact lenses
Slit-lamp exam:
Intraocular pressure test:
Measures the pressure inside the eye to screen for glaucoma and monitor ocular health.

Children
At 6 months, 3 years, and before starting school
Adults
Every 2–3 years until 40, then every 1–2 years
At-risk patients
Those with diabetes, hypertension, or family history need more frequent exams.
